US Army veteran Matt Benning returns home from Afghanistan to a wrecked economy and a family that doesn't understand him. While the demons of war haunt him, he finds solace with a young woman, Brandi, who is trying to outrun her own problems. As the romance blossoms, Matt finds himself dragged into a vortex of drugs, violence and with few options. He ends up working for a meth dealer that lands him in further trouble. Now on the run, his only escape is into the desolation of the American Desert.
