|
|a Twelve-year-old aspiring naturalist Algie Emsworth arrives at a health resort in 1890s Florida in the hopes of alleviating his asthma in its mineral pools. There he discovers a host of flora and fauna to feed his curiosities, and two friends, Frankie and Lulu, the daughters of the resort owner who share his interest in the natural world. When the trio discover a mysterious new creature, they vow to protect it from exotic animal collector Professor Ransom Champion who also is staying at the resort. Adding to their adventures, a curse upon the hotel seems to have brought with it a dangerous red tide and a mystery hiding in the depths of the mineral pool.
