Long ago, Wren's fellow villagers tried to sacrifice her to dragons--understandably, she has grown up swearing off all human contact, contenting herself with her friend Sky, a small mountain dragon. Leaf, meanwhile, doesn't trust dragons, and thinks his sister Wren was eaten by one when she was sacrificed. Ivy, meanwhile, is the daughter of the Dragonslayer, but she doesn't trust that her father brought only treasure back from the sand dragon he killed twenty years ago--he is hiding something. These three kids' paths are about to cross in ways that will shape the destinies of dragons and humans.
