Lueg recorded his experiences with stops in Helena, Montana, Spokane, Washington and down the Columbia River to Portland. He described his impressions along the route and then his impressions of Portland.

He lived in Cincinnati, St. Louis and Nashville before settling in St. Paul. From St. Paul, he joined the Davy Emigration party, which made the journey to Portland, Oregon. He settled in Portland, where he worked as a machinist. | |
