Flying over water

by Shannon Hitchcock and NH Senzai
Book - 2022

Noura Alwan and her family arrive in Tampa, Florida, shortly before President Trump issues a ban on Muslims entering the United States. Originally from the Syrian city of Aleppo, Noura and her family have been living in a Turkish refugee camp for the past two years. Jordyn Johnson and her family learned about the Alwan family through their church, and have agreed to help. Jordyn is the same age as Noura and acts as her school ambassador. But as anti-Muslim sentiments rise in the area, certain kids at school target Noura and it's up to both Jordyn and Noura to stand together to fight the hatred and fear.
