Trouble percolates in Coffee City

James J Griffin
large type - 2025

"Texas Ranger Will Kirkpatrick and his young partner, Jonas Peterson, are still recovering from a deadly shoot-out with the notorious Trent gang, a gun battle that led to Jonas having a serious head injury, when they receive new orders. Information has come into Ranger Headquarters that the enigmatic Mexican gang leader known only as El Atrevido, The Daring One, has fled into Texas, along with his followers. He has established himself in the small Border town of Coffee City. From there he can continue his reign of robbing, rustling, and killing on both sides of the Rio Grande with impunity. With no other Rangers available, Will and Jonas are dispatched on a four hundred mile journey from their post in Sweetwater to capture El Atrevido at any cost. However, the main issue facing the Rangers is El Atrevido's reputation as a folk hero among many of the Border residents. Will and Jonas can expect no help from the residents of Coffee City. To bring El Atrevido to justice, they will have to fight their way into the town, somehow get to their quarry and get out of town alive, then get him to Laredo before the gang leader's men ambush them and leave them lying dead in the desert."--
