Desperate to become one of the popular girls at her new school, Kammie Summers agrees to undergo what turns out to be a fake initiation to their club. She falls in a well, and while she doesn't hear any replies from the girls up above, she hopes they have gone to get help. As hours pass her hope fades, even as she remembers some of the best and worst times of her life and wonders where she went wrong. When hunger and thirst make her hallucinate, she is joined by a French-speaking coyote and zombie goats, who actually help her see the light.
