545 0 |a The Meridian Club was organized in 1950 by a group of women affiliated with the Kellog Travel Club to "broaden their interest into a wider field of study and activity" not limited to travel. The purpose of the club was to be social and cultural. In order to stress the social aspect of the club, it was decided to hold the monthly meetings in the homes of the members. Mrs. John Brogden was the first president for the 1950-1951 year. Members gave talks about political issues of the day as well as talks of travels and history. Members reviewed books and there was a variety of entertainment. The club withdrew from the Spokane Federation of Women's Clubs in 1968 due to low membership and appears to have dissolved in 1969.
