Includes a "Pioneer Interview with Herman Sherman Bassett" done by Becher (handwritten and typewritten notes), and a typewritten manuscript entitled "H. S. Bassett Recalls Stories Of Territorial Days For Liberty Grange." Also present is a manuscript entitled "Information as Written to Me" by Bertha Bassett Shissler (1953) and correspondence with Bassett's daughter, Florence Bassett. There is also a "Bassett Family Record" done by Becher.

545 0 |a Herman S. Bassett, publisher, was two years old in 1871 when he arrived in Spokane with his parents. His father, Wilbur Fiske Bassett was a carpenter and millwright. The family moved to a farm near Granite Lake in 1872. Herman Bassett was owner and editor of the Harrington Citizen from 1907 to 1959. He was known as "The Sagebrush Bard" because of his poems about pioneer life.
