Navajo native Nathan Todacheenie spends summer vacation with his grandmother and uncle in a reservation mobile home and discovers a mystical being known as the Water Monster who hasn't brought rain to the reservation because it has been sickened. Nathan embarks on a quest to the Third World to help the Water Monster, who promises that in exchange he will help heal Nathan's uncle, who suffers from PTSD.
