Presents the true story of Gilbert Fields, an African-born slave in Georgia who escaped with his family from their plantation. However, Fields got turned the wrong way at night, and by morning realized he had been leading everyone south. The only thing to do was to seek refuge with the Seminole Indians, who took them in, and then to head for Mobile, Alabama, a community of free blacks.
