Army expedition which investigated the feasibility of extending steamboat navigation on the Upper Columbia River in 1881. He published his description of that expedition in "The Region of the Upper Columbia River and How I Saw It" in 1881. He went with several exploring parties out of the Department of the Columbia from 1881 to 1883 and sketched a record of these. | |
