Siblings Sara and Emiliano fled across the desert from Mexico to the United States in order to escape the violent cartel that is out to kill them. Sara turned herself over to the authorities in order to apply for asylum, but Emiliano enters the U.S. illegally, planning on living with his father. As Sara is being held indefinitely in a detention facility, awaiting an asylum hearing that may never come, Emiliano sets out to expose the crimes of the cartel, putting both his life and Sara's in danger.
