The baron, Lord de Lays, has raised taxes to the point where people are starving. Ellie and the League of Archers continue their mission of robbing the rich, but now they work to build a community deep in the woods beyond the baron's reach. Everything changes, however, when King John is murdered right before Ellie's eyes. Ellie learns that the baron wants to kidnap the crown prince and install himself as king, so Ellie must ensure the prince's safety to prevent a civil war.
