Spokane's 21st century Fox

[The resurrection of an art deco treasure]
Producer Lynn Veltrie ; Editor Scott McKinnon
The resurrection of an art deco treasure - 2008

Spokane's Fox Theater has been "the place to go" since it opened in 1931, where lines formed around the block to view the latest Hollywood feature. Usherettes wore evening gowns and famous performers graced its stage. Even during the declining years as a discount theater, it retained vestiges of elegance in it's faded murals and dusty chandeliers. But this story nearly had a sad ending: in 2000, the theater was threatened by demolition, and only the urgent efforts of the community saved the Fox from the wrecking ball.
