Earth became a colony of a superior alien race and went through a century of peace because of it. Now, that peace is shattered as the government has been forced to negotiate with the human terrorist group Sapience. Meanwhile, Donovan Reyes is trying to return to his life as a member of the security forces. Then, the unthinkable happens--the alien home planet withdraws all its colonizers, and the alien rulers along with a selection of their favorite humans are to return and leave Earth to her own devices. Suddenly vulnerable to hostile aliens, Donovan realizes that Sapience might be the only group that can safeguard their planet.
