When John stumbles into an indigenous peoples dance class at the local community cultural center, he decides to become a dancer. He faces ridicule from his soccer teammates and hostility from the dancers at the cultural center. In order to dance at the Pow Wow, he has to learn to balance his responsibilities, confront his fears, and embrace both the Irish and Cree sides of his heritage.
