A lonely girl named Jo, who is navigating feelings about her father being away, notices a dog walking to town with a basket to collect items for its owner at various shops. When a group of school kids think the dog is hers, Jo follows along with the ruse, agreeing to take the dog to a weekly painting class. But keeping the lies up about the dog, which she names Pawcasso, cause trouble for him, and Jo will have to choose between her new friends and Pawcasso's freedom.
